Today I have included a promotional video for an innovative new business that has recently been opened up for everyone to use. WebbChange was started by one of my close childhood friends, Travis Russell, who has created a new way to place value on what you find online.
Disclaimer: I never promote other sites or products unless I use them myself or fully believe that they will add value to your life. I am not a paid endorser of WebbChange. I am promoting this site because I genuinely believe you should check it out and see if it can be of use to you.
So, what is WebbChange?
If you want the official corporate answer you can check out WebbChange.com and click on Learn More. From my perspective, WebbChange is a rating and sharing system. It’s a way to see what others’ value on the Internet in a unique way that doesn’t involve 5 stars, number of diggs, or “like it” buttons. The currency system allows you to rank sites based on the amount of “change” you spend on each site. You can think of WebbChange as a combination of Facebook, Twitter, Google, Digg, and Delicious, with an added twist of using coins to rank your favorite websites.
How do you use WebbChange?
After you set up a free account, you are given some coins that you can “spend” on websites you like. Think of spending the coins as voting. The more coins you spend on a site, the stronger your endorsement. You are also given a set of Daily Coins to spend as you surf the web and they reset after 24 hours, so you can spend coins every day if you’d like.
As the coins accumulate you can see which sites are attracting more “money” and so you can check out what others are finding online. There are search features for you to check out specific topics or genres of websites. I suggest you check out the Blog section and throw my site some coins.
You can also view the feed area to see what other users have endorsed recently.
Feedback
Let me know what you think. I know Travis would love some feedback on the new site and I would also love to hear what you think about how users rate the Internet. WebbChange is kind of a social experiment to see how users like you experience and interact with websites and each other. Thanks for your comments and I’ll be back soon with more thoughts on conquering life after college!
