I don’t know about you, but I can say from personal experience that my love for reading didn’t begin until after college. During school the idea of reading books for fun was out of the question. I had so much required reading for class that picking up a book from the library or Barnes & Noble just for enjoyment felt like a huge waste of time. However, after spending a few years reading some absolutely amazing books and learning incredible lessons from them, I can’t seem to stop. My personal library has grown immensely and I’ve found myself with membership cards to multiple book stores in town. My point is that reading matters, and you can truly transform the way you live based on what you read. A famous broadcaster by the name of Charlie Jones is remembered in-part for this quote:
“You will be the same person tomorrow, next week, next month, next year and in 5, 10, 20 years except for two things – the people you meet and the books you read.”
Whether you agree with Charlie’s point of view or not, you CAN learn a lot from other people and you CAN learn a lot from great books. Having said that, I have listed three of the greatest books I have read in the last few years that have made a tremendous impact on my life and that certainly can change your perspective about life in the real world. So, consider checking them out at your local library if you don’t want to buy them. They are tremendous books and I hope they help you as much as they have helped me.
